No one cares about you. They care even less about me. Everyone’s life is so complex that they won’t even stop to think about you or any other human that has or will ever exist. Nonsense, right? It doesn’t matter how many posts or likes you have on Instagram, how good you are at your hobbies, or how loud you talk. Nobody cares about your day at the beach or your cute selfie. I know this sounds bitter. I probably sound like the biggest nihilist or whatever. But honestly, I’m just saying all this as an excuse to introduce myself. I couldn’t think of a better way to do it.

So, who am I? My name is Omar Castillo. I’m not a professional writer or a professional in anything for that matter. I guess I’m just some random teenager who decided to give blogging a shot. I fell in love with writing from a very young age, crafting fake books and discount Shel Silverstein poems in my free time and at school. If I were to be honest, I’m mostly doing this to profit off my passion, as most would attempt to do at my age. But deep down, if someone were to read the advice I post here and learn from it, it would really make me happy.
You might ask, “Advice? What advice can a 17-year-old possibly give?” That’s a fair question. Those older than me often remind me that they have decades of experience on me and therefore more wisdom. They might be right, but they also have to accept that they don’t know everything. Why else would they have insecurities, constant fights with their significant others, or trust issues? I thought their “wisdom” would be enough. Remember this: wisdom can be gained from anyone and anything. You can gain wisdom from a saying, a smooth sail on a lake, or even from a random teenager like me. In fact, you just did. We are lifelong students, and it’s OK to be curious.

This blog will share thoughts and philosophical concepts from my life so far. Stoicism, existentialism, and nihilism are my favorite schools of thought right now, but as with everything in life that isn’t death, my interests could change over time. The more I post on this blog, the more it will be categorized as a self-improvement guide. However, I don’t fully subscribe to that label. Sure, you can strive to improve yourself, and that’s great. But this is your universe. You choose who and what to include in this journey. Accept that there is no one way to improve, and nine times out of ten, you will have to find those ways yourself.
So congrats. You found a way.
Feel free to comment on how I can improve this blog and suggest any topics you want me to touch on. (And by the way, no, I will not talk about controversial topics like abortion or politics. I simply don’t care about them enough at this current stage of my life. Pardon my ignorance and naivety.)
